How much is your Intellectual Property (IP) worth and how do I protect it? Intellectual property is a subject that all new entrepreneurs are worried about. They are scared about talking about their idea and that someone will take it. There are three major ways to protect your IP, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Provisional Patents, and Non-Provisional Patents.

NDA’s are contractual agreements that prevent a party/entity from talking about your idea. They are held more so by ethical behavior but do have a legal standpoint which varies in strength depending on the state. But best of all about NDA’s is that they are free of charge unless you want to have an attorney write one up.

Provisional Patent is actually something that gets filed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and actually is just to hold a filing date. The filing date is for 12 months and then…
